Parents should administer medications at home prior to the beginning or following the conclusion of the school day.  West Virginia state law 18-5-22a dictates that no school employee shall be required to administer medication.

All medications, both prescription and non-prescription, that are to be administered at school must be authorize by a physician or other licensed health care provider with prescription writing authority.  Send only the amount of medication needed for that day at school.  School personnel are not permitted to give medication orally, including Tylenol, without written orders from a physician.

All medications must be delivered to the office along with a note from the doctor, which indicates medicine and time to be taken.  Students must report to the office whenever it is time for administration.
